Meet Hunter
I first started doing Super 8 film videography with my partner Abigail for her photography business- shout out Whitehurst Photo! I instantly knew this was something I wanted to make into more than just a hobby.
Growing up my mom would scrapbook everything from my sports games to our family parties which were kept in a cedar chest. We always cherished having those memories to look back on which is why the idea behind Cedar Chest Films is important to me. Creating heirloom films that can give people those memories to enjoy for years to come!
My main goal is simple- connect with you, serve you, tell your story through film, and make memories you’ll want to keep somewhere special- like a cedar chest;)
INSPIRATION…echoes of home
I’m endlessly inspired by my family and loved ones - by the scrapbooks and albums that are passed down by generations, the old photographs that have softened edges with time, the homevideos that transport us back in time.
The grain of film, the faded tones of a polaroid, the imperfect blur of a moment caught mid-laughter - they hold more than a moment caught in time. They hold atmosphere. they hold memory. When i look through or watch them i am not just looking, i’m transported.
that nostalgic, imperfectly perfect quality is what i chase. my goal is to bottle up your day and all the emotions it carried. i want to transport you back, to where you not only see the best moments of your life… you get to relive them, feel them.
Why Super 8 ?
Super 8 is real motion picture film. I physically load each roll into the camera and shoot it frame by frame, knowing there’s a limited amount of time on every cartridge. when finished, the film is developed in a lab — what you see is the actual grain, texture, and light captured in that exact moment.
There’s no recreating it. No endless retakes. It forces me to slow down and pay attention. That’s what I love about it.
Super 8 doesn’t chase perfection. It encapsulates emotion, atmosphere, and the in-between moments that digital can’t mimic. The result feels less like a production and more like a memory — something honest, lived-in, and timeless.
ON A DEEPER LEVEL…
I am a firm believer of making the most out of the one short life that we are given. I aspire to always stay grateful, always make time for those most important, and never lose sight of living life to the fullest.
